January 28, 2026 – International Cricket:
In a major development that has sent ripples through global cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has provisionally suspended United States of America batter Aaron Jones after accusing him of alleged match-fixing and multiple breaches of anti-corruption rules. The suspension is effective immediately and covers all forms of cricket.

The 31-year-old Jones, born in New York, has been charged with five breaches of the anti-corruption codes of both Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the ICC. The charges stem mainly from alleged incidents during the BIM10 tournament in Barbados in the 2023–24 season, which falls under the jurisdiction of the CWI Anti-Corruption Code. Two additional charges relate to breaches of the ICC’s anti-corruption regulations tied to international fixtures.
According to the ICC’s official statement, Jones faces the following allegations:
Match-Fixing or Improper Influence: Attempting to fix, contrive or improperly influence the results, progress, conduct, or other aspects of matches in the BIM10 tournament.
Failure to Report Corrupt Approaches: Not disclosing to Cricket West Indies details of any approaches or invitations that could amount to corrupt conduct.
Non-Cooperation with Investigations: Failing or refusing to cooperate with a reasonable anti-corruption investigation carried out by designated officials.
Failure to Disclose to ICC ACU: Not providing full details of any approaches received to the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU).
Obstruction: Allegedly concealing or tampering with information relevant to the ACU’s investigation.
Under the ICC’s anti-corruption code, Jones has been provisionally suspended from all cricket activities with immediate effect. He has 14 days from January 28, 2026, to respond formally to the charges. The ICC also noted that this case forms part of a broader investigation, and additional charges against other participants could follow as enquiries continue.
Aaron Jones has been one of the standout figures in USA cricket over recent years. He has represented the United States in 52 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 48 T20 Internationals, featuring prominently in the team’s historic run to the Super Eight stage of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup — the USA’s debut campaign in the tournament.
Jones has also competed in various franchise leagues around the world, including Major League Cricket (MLC), the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and the Abu Dhabi T10 league. His provisional suspension comes just days ahead of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, where he was expected to be part of the USA squad if selected.
The suspension raises questions about integrity and anti-corruption compliance in emerging cricketing nations and franchise tournaments. The ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit has been increasingly active in monitoring global competitions, and this high-profile case underlines the governing body’s commitment to upholding the sport’s integrity.
For now, the focus will be on how Jones responds to the charges within the stipulated period and on whether further action will be taken against others implicated in the ongoing investigation.
